What is a PP Spun Sediment Filter?

  • This PP Spun sediment filter is often the first filter installed in the Reverse Osmosis filtration unit and acts as a net as it catches unwanted particles, including sand, dirt, silt, rust, and other fine particles.
  • Spun filters are made of fine melted polypropylene, which is then blown and spun into a cylinder-like form.
  • Propylene is a substance that is resistant to chemical solvents, bases, and acids. Removal of these particles allows filters, such as Carbon filter, to perform better and for longer periods of time.
  • Generally, for water that is more visibly polluted, containing larger particles, a sediment filter of a larger size (5 microns) is recommended in the first stage of installation to prevent the clogging of the next stage(s) of water filter.
